Μαρία ΓΑΖΟΥΛΗ

Maria Gazouli is a Professor of Biology–Genetics–Nanomedicine at the Department of Biology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), School of Medicine. She holds two PhDs from NKUA and conducted postdoctoral research at Georgetown University. Her work focuses on the molecular basis of diseases, particularly cancer and autoimmune conditions, and the application of nanotechnology in diagnostics and targeted drug delivery.

She has published over 350 papers with 17,000+ citations (h-index 65) and holds several patents. A Fulbright Scholar, she developed biosensor arrays for cancer cell detection. Dr. Gazouli has held numerous research roles, coordinated EU-funded projects, and serves as an evaluator for global funding agencies. She teaches Biology and Molecular Biology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contributes to national and international academic programs. Currently, she is Greece’s National Representative at the Committee of Advanced Therapies (CAT) of the European Medicines Agency.
